چکیده

Abstract. The dispersion of cooking-generated aerosols from an urban street canyon is examined with building-resolving computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Using a comprehensive CFD model (PALM) sectional aerosol module (SALSA), emissions deep-frying and boiling are considered for near-ground elevated sources. With representative choices the source flux, inclusion dynamic processes decreases mean canyon-averaged number concentration by 15 %–40 % cooking emissions, whereas effect significantly weaker traffic-generated aerosols. effects deposition coagulation comparable boiling, but dominates deep-frying. Deposition maximised inside leeward corner vortices, while increases away source. characteristic timescales invoked to explain spatial structure coagulation. In particular, relative difference between concentrations simulations without strongly correlated ageing particles along trajectories or tracer age. It argued that, specific emission spectrum, qualitative nature within canopies determined ratio relevant dynamical timescale (e.g. age air).

his investigation was carried out to reveal the impact of solar radiation on wind flow structure and pollutant dispersion in an urban street canyon of aspect ratio of one using the computational fluid dynamic (cfd) technique. the simulation results (velocity and concentration data) show that heating from building wall surfaces and ground lead to strong buoyancy forces as the air is heated by th...

Joint PDF modeling of turbulent flow and dispersion in an urban street canyon

The joint probability density function (PDF) of turbulent velocity and concentration of a passive scalar in an urban street canyon is computed using a newly developed particle-in-cell Monte Carlo method. Compared to moment closures, the PDF methodology provides the full one-point one-time PDF of the underlying fields containing all higher moments and correlations. The small-scale mixing of the ...

Three Dimensional Analysis of Pollution Dispersion in Street Canyon

Three dimensional simulations are carried out to estimate the effect of wind direction, wind speed and geometry on the flow and dispersion of vehicular pollutant in a street canyon. The pollutant sources are motor vehicles passing between the two buildings. Suitable emission factors for petrol and diesel vehicles at varying vehicle speed are used for the estimation of the rate of emission from ...

Effect of wind direction and speed on the dispersion of nucleation and accumulation mode particles in an urban street canyon.

There have been many studies concerning dispersion of gaseous pollutants from vehicles within street canyons; fewer address the dispersion of particulate matter, particularly particle number concentrations separated into the nucleation (10-30 nm or N10-30) or accumulation (30-300 nm or N30-300) modes either separately or together (N10-300). This study aimed to determine the effect of wind direc...
